Office Ergonomics

Full Day Train the Trainer

This training is suitable for supervisors, JH&S committee members or anyone in the organization who has been designated to perform office ergonomic hazard assessments. Participants learn the principals of ergonomics and MSD prevention and will learn to identify the workplace hazards that can contribute to MSD injury and discomfort. At the end of the course, participants will have the confidence to complete a basic office ergonomic assessment and will be capable to make recommendations for improvement and implement the changes required at the site. Topics include:
  • What are Musculoskeletal Disorders?
  • Common signs and symptoms of MSDs
  • Main hazards that can contribute to MSDs
  • Identifying hazards in the office using checklists
  • Does the discomfort relate to the hazard identified?
  • Ergonomic guidelines and standards for office environments
  • Setting up the computer workstation including:
    • Adjusting the workstation chair
    • Keyboard and mouse position
    • Positioning the monitor
    • Positioning other equipment in the office
  • Prioritizing recommendations for improvement including tools, equipment and work methods
  • Using micro-breaks, task rotation and stretching to improve comfort in the workstation
  • Preparing a report
Deliverables include training manuals and a certificate of participation upon completion of the course.

Lunch and Learn Training

This training is suitable for any worker in your organization who uses a computer workstation. Our one hour lunch and learn format provides participants with immediate, targeted solutions to improve their comfort at work. Topics include:
  • What are Musculoskeletal Disorders?
  • Common signs and symptoms of MSDs
  • Main hazards in computer workstations that can contribute to MSDs
  • Setting up your computer workstation, including:
    • Adjusting your workstation chair
    • Keyboard and mouse position
    • Positioning your monitor
    • Positioning other equipment in your office
  • An introduction to Stretching at work
